Our Mission
Who We Are
Our first aim is to be an obedient body. Simply, we want to do everything we do according to the will of Jesus Christ - in word or deed - everything (Colossians 3:17). Our next aim is to be a growing body. We want to nurture growth in every disciple. We believe the most important growth for Christians is in a growing knowledge of God’s word. And so, you will discover our emphasized activity is Bible study. In doing so, we believe we can encourage every Christian by speaking the truth in love so that all of us will live as Christ in the World (1 John 4:17) and grow up in Him (Ephesians 4:16).
Another aim is to be a united body. We believe we will accomplish this by not "exceed[ing] what is written" (1 Corinthians 4:6) in the Bible. If we will follow only the instructions of Jesus Christ and His chosen ambassadors, the Apostles, in every way (2 Corinthians 5:20), we will unite on the right things. They were guided to write everything pertaining to life and godliness ( 2Peter 1:3) by the power of the Holy Spirit (John 14:26; 15:26; 16:13) so that we could understand their insight into the mystery of Christ (Ephesians 3:3-4). With their testimony of truth, we believe all Christians everywhere can be united (John 17:17-23) if everyone will set aside their denominational titles, creeds and practices. So where the Bible points the way as a church and as a leadership, we follow.
And last, our aim is to be a Biblical body in our mission, our management and our worship. We will do the work Christ commissioned churches to do in the first century. We will build fellowship with other Christians to model what the early church did. We will worship as the early church did by singing our praise (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16), by praying (Acts 2:42), by communing with Christ in the Lord's Supper (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:19, by gathering a weekly collection for the Lord's work (1 Corinthians 16:1-2) and by hearing Scripture read and preached to our edification (Acts 2:42).
We do all these things because we want in every way to glorify Christ and to be simply Christians – nothing more and nothing less.
